TAMPA, Fla. (WWSB) – A Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office deputy was arrested July 17 for stalking a woman after a traffic stop, the sheriff’s office said Friday.
Detectives say on July 7 at 10:22 p.m., Deputy Andrew Brown, 39, conducted a traffic stop on the victim and obtained her phone number.
Following the traffic stop, Brown sent the victim continuous unwanted messages, even after being blocked.
Brown has been employed with HCSO for nine months. He has been suspended without pay pending the outcome of the criminal and administrative investigation.
“When someone puts on our uniform, they take on a responsibility to serve with integrity. The badge is a symbol of trust, and this deputy betrayed that trust,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister.
“That is a violation of everything HCSO stands for, and it makes me furious. We will hold him accountable, just as we would anyone else who breaks the law.”
The investigation is continuing.
