An Orlando man is back behind bars and accused of robbing two rideshare drivers at gunpoint, all just months after being released from prison for a similar crime. Jabril Harris, 30, was arrested Wednesday after Orlando police say he robbed two rideshare drivers at gunpoint on July 11 near the Country Inn & Suites along Forbes Place. According to an arrest report, the victims were waiting for their next ride at about 12:15 a.m. when Harris pulled up in a Nissan Altima, got out with a gun, and demanded their belongings. The report states Harris pressed the gun against one victim’s rib cage and took cash from his pockets. While the victim “was attempting to remove his chain, (Harris) hit him in the head with his hand to have (the victim) remove the chain quicker,” the arrest report states. Harris then took a gold chain and cash from the second victim before fleeing, according to police. The victims told officers they could not identify Harris because he had his hood up and his face covered during the robbery. In the days that followed, Orlando police detectives connected Harris to the case after locating the car he was allegedly driving, a Nissan Altima with a stolen license plate, in the driveway of his parents’ house on Crosston Bay Court, about 20 minutes south of where the crime occurred. On July 15, police obtained a search warrant and sent a SWAT team to the home. Harris refused to come out, according to the arrest report. After an approximately two-hour standoff, “SWAT eventually entered the house and found him hiding inside the washing machine,” the report states. Detectives recovered a MAC-11 firearm from the garage, which they said matches the “Uzi-style” weapon described by the victims. Harris now faces two counts of armed robbery with a firearm, two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and resisting an officer without violence. He is being held without bond on the robbery and assault charges. The new charges come just months after Harris was released from prison on March 11. Court records show he was convicted of robbery and attempted robbery after police say he robbed multiple tourists at gunpoint near the I-Drive tourist area in November 2024. He was sentenced on March 4 to nearly 16 months in prison but spent only seven days in a state prison cell after having already served 475 days in the Orange County jail awaiting trial. As of Friday night, Harris remained in the Orange County jail. Court records show the State Attorney’s Office is seeking to keep him detained because of his past and the nature of the crime. He has a hearing scheduled for next week.
