The NHC says Invest 91L has formed in the Gulf Coast. Central Florida is expected to see heavy rain throughout the weekend as the system sits in the Gulf. “Invest” is a shorthanded way of saying “area of investigation”. The term is used by the National Hurricane Center when forecasters want to take a closer look at it for the possibility of future development. When a system is named an invest, extra information becomes available, such as spaghetti plots. The latest model runs are still among the earliest available and should be viewed with caution. More comprehensive tropical models are expected to begin coming in after 2 p.m., forecasters say.
