The City of Fort Myers is encouraging residents to apply for the remaining $1,726,794 in funding from Florida’s Hurricane Housing Recovery Program to repair homes damaged by Hurricane Ian.
Since 2022, the city has already allocated $1,369,546 to help 12 families with home rehabilitation and reconstruction.
To qualify for the assistance, applicants must be homeowners living in Fort Myers.
The property must be owner-occupied and eligible for a homestead exemption.
Additionally, household income must not exceed 120% of the area median income, as determined by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Spanish-speaking staff are available to assist with the application process. If applicants do not qualify, other city programs may be available for income-qualifying residents.
