Tampa, Fla. (WWSB) – The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said both deputies wounded in a July 16 shootout have been released from the hospital.
Deputy Sopharmony Muon, 33, was released Saturday and will continue recovering at home.
The sheriff’s office said Muon and Deputy Colton Daniels, 39, were shot when they were ambushed while trying to take Christopher Dmuchowski, 34, into custody.
Muon was shot in the face and hand.
Daniels was shot in the neck and was released from the hospital on Friday.
“Seeing Deputy Muon walk out of that hospital today is a moment we will not soon forget. His strength and positive attitude through this have been remarkable, and we are beyond thankful for the outcome,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “We can’t say thank you enough to TGH and to this community, whose support has carried him and his family through every step of this.”
Deputies said Dmuchowski was also shot in the incident and was taken to Tampa General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
