HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — A Florida woman was sentenced to three years after investigators say she posed as the family of a Camp Mystic flood victim to get donations from GoFundMe and other platforms.
29-year-old Maitlin White plead guilty to two third-degree felony counts of online fraud after an investigation by the Office of Harris County Constable Precinct One Alan Rosen, according to a news release.

“It is inexcusable how she sought to prey on the emotions of our community and abused the family of Chloe Childress who have endured an unimaginable tragedy,” Harris County Constable Precinct One Alan Rosen said. “Let this be a warning to anyone else who ever seeks to engage in such schemes in the future.”
White was was captured in Florida by the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force.
