Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) has given Florida a balanced budget, low spending and light taxes. As he approaches the end of his term, he might blow it all up.
For over a year, DeSantis has been pushing to largely eliminate Florida’s property taxes, which account for about three-quarters of local tax collections. In June, Florida’s Republican-controlled legislature granted DeSantis a pared-down version of his requested constitutional amendment, which will appear on the ballot in November.
