Universal Orlando is celebrating Sunday’s National Ice Cream Day, a day of celebration first established by the Federal government in 1984, by showcasing some unique flavors for sale at the theme park.

Feeling adventurous? Universal’s flavors include chocolate chili, earl grey & lavender or, of course, Butterbeer.

It’s almost unanimous — Americans love ice cream, according to a survey this year from the International Dairy Foods Association.

“97% of Americans love or like ice cream. And chocolate has overtaken vanilla as America’s favorite flavor since 2024,” the association found after surveying 2,200 adults across the county. “And two new flavors break into the top five: Cookies and Cream/Oreo and Caramel/Salted Caramel. According to the survey, America’s favorite flavor is Chocolate, with Butter Pecan and Vanilla coming in as second and third top choices.”

Flavor is what matters most, Americans said.

“Flavor is the top driver of ice cream purchases, with seven-in-ten saying it’s very important, followed by price and the size of the cone or container,” the survey said.

That’s what has helped Universal capitalize on its popular Butterbeer by turning it into a frozen dessert.

In Diagon’s Alley at Universal Studios, Harry Potter fans can buy the Butterbeer flavors at Florean Fortescue’s Ice-Cream Parlour.

“Wizards and Muggles of every age can indulge in scoop and soft-serve ice-creams here, with fantastic flavors like Butterbeer, Granny Smith, Earl Grey and Lavender, Chocolate Chili, Sticky Toffee Pudding, Salted Caramel Blondie, Chocolate and Raspberry,” Universal said on its website.

Universal also sells milkshakes at The Toothsome Chocolate Emporium & Savory Feast Kitchen at Universal CityWalk, Satellite Shakes at Universal Epic Universe and a piña colada sundae at Chill Ice Cream in Marvel Super Hero Island at Universal Islands of Adventure and more.

Ice cream shops are located at Hard Rock Hotel, Loews Portofino Bay Hotel, Loews Royal Pacific Resort, Universal Aventura Hotel, Universal Cabana Bay Beach Resort, Universal Helios Grand Hotel, Universal Stella Nova Resort and Universal Terra Luna Resort.
