Sometimes, it just is not your night. The Orlando Pride found that out last night against the Utah Royals FC, in a tough 1-0 loss. Over 9,000 fans packed into American First Field in Sandy, Utah. The Pride have historically defeated the Royals 4 times and have only lost 3 times with 3 ties; the Pride had not lost to the Royals since 2019.”It is always tough with the turnaround from Wednesday night to coming here and the travel. We have always said we are not going to look for excuses. We are always going to look at what is in front of us and try our best. I think the players tried their best tonight, but it just wasn’t quite enough today.” Orlando head coach Seb Hines said postgame.For much of the game, Orlando kept a steady pace with Utah. The Royals’ defense came out strong, aided by goalkeeper Mandy McGlynn, who made an excellent save only 6 minutes into the match. The Pride’s defense also held strong, making opportunities for both teams to get a shot off rare. The first and only goal came within the 35th minute, when Ana Tejada set her up with an arching lay-up that was kicked into the corner of the net, nearly missing the crossbar. The Pride were unable to answer back and took their 5th loss of the season, making their record 4-5 so far in 2026. “Tough one. A tough defeat. I thought the game was quite even. The goal is just one of those that is a cross that goes into the corner. They take the lead. Players gave absolutely everything” head coach Hines said postgame.The Pride will be back home at Inter&Co Stadium next Friday against the Chicago Stars FC. The match will kick off at 8 p.m.
