TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The low-pressure system in the Gulf has been formally upgraded to Tropical Depression Two, according to the National Hurricane Center.
A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for Florida from the Ochlockonee River to the Alabama border. NHC said additional watches will likely be issued in the coming days.
Through Sunday morning, the system slowly became more defined, and the showers and thunderstorms it’s bringing increased in intensity. Two to 4 inches of rainfall are expected along the eastern and central Gulf Coast from Florida to Louisiana through Thursday.
As of 10 a.m. on Sunday, TD2 is moving north-northwest at around 2 mph and is expected to continue moving along the northern Gulf coast.

Heavy rain should be anticipated in the northern Gulf, including in Florida, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana.
The depression is expected to further develop into a tropical storm Sunday night or Monday morning.
