TAMPA, Fla. — It’s SEC Media Days down in Tampa, Florida, and Coach Josh Heupel and the Tennessee Vols took to the press conference stand Monday.
The big story for the Vols heading into the season is once again a new starting quarterback for the 5th year in a row and 7th time in the last nine years.
Tennessee will have a new man behind center with Joey Aguilar now in the NFL.

Tennessee enters the season with four quarterbacks on roster: early enrollee freshman Brandon Faizon, redshirt freshman George MacIntyre, redshirt freshman Mason Phillips and redshirt junior transfer Ryan Staub from Colorado.
It’s a tight battle between true freshman Fazon Brandon and redshirt freshman George McIntyre.

“We have two young guys that are competing at a really high level. They’ve continued to grow. There’s a lot on their plate. Look forward to seeing them learn it, earn it, and take a job during the course of training camp. I think that’s important for his teammates to see that garner that trust and respect, and ultimately, when you have a young quarterback, you got to tie everything together. We got to play really good defense, and special teams got to be on point,” Heupel says.
Will it be Brandon or will it be McIntyre?
It’s going to be fascinating to see if either one of them can take a lead during fall camp.
We will officially find out who has won the job when the Vols open up this season in Knoxville on September 5th against Furman.
