FHP investigating crash involving vehicle and bicycle in Fort Pierce

FORT PIERCE, Fla. (CBS12) — The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a crash involving a vehicle and a bicycle in Fort Pierce.

According to the St. Lucie County Fire District, crews responded to a vehicle-vs.-bicycle crash in the area of East Midway Road at 2:48 p.m. Monday.

Because the incident involved minors, the fire district said it is not releasing any patient information, including the victims’ medical conditions.

The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the scene but said it could not provide additional details because the Florida Highway Patrol is leading the investigation.

An FHP dispatch log also indicates troopers investigated a fatal crash on East Midway Road Monday, but it was logged shortly after 3 a.m. It was not immediately clear whether that investigation is related to the afternoon crash.
