A 19-year-old driver was spotted driving 103 miles per hour in a 40 mph zone in Dunedin, according to a Pinellas County deputy.
DUNEDIN, Fla. — A 19-year-old Palm Harbor man is facing charges under Florida’s “super speeder” law.
According to an arrest affidavit from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, Harrison Palmer was spotted driving 103 miles per hour in a 40 mph zone on Curlew Road in Dunedin shortly after midnight Saturday, July 18.
According to the affidavit, radar clocked Palmer’s high rate of speed as he drove westbound toward the intersection with Alt. U.S. 19. When Palmer’s 2008 BMW was pulled over, he reportedly told the deputy he was aware he was speeding but not of exactly how fast he was going.
Palmer was arrested and taken to the Pinellas County Jail on a charge of dangerous excessive speeding (50 mph or more). He was later released on a $150 bond.
Florida’s “super speeder” law, enacted in 2025, mandates arrest and criminal charges for any driver who exceeds 100 mph or exceeds the posted speed limit by more than 50 mph.
