A JSO spokesperson said the 40-year-old man was arrested Friday on a Clay County warrant. He died Sunday evening.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man died inside the Duval County Jail Sunday evening while awaiting a transfer to Clay County on a warrant, according to a spokesperson with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
The man, 40-year-old Christopher James Lumpkin, was arrested Friday, July 17, on a Clay County warrant. A JSO spokesperson said the agency was notified of his death around 8 p.m. Sunday, July 19.
JSO investigators said no use of force incidents were reported involving Lumpkin, and they are awaiting results from the medical examiner’s office. A JSO spokesperson said in a statement Lumpkin was being monitored on drug detox protocols.
