TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The Tallahassee Police Department promoted eight officers into command staff roles, elevating two deputy chiefs, one major and five captains in a ceremony held today.

Chief Lawrence Revell said the promotions are aimed at strengthening the department’s leadership pipeline.

“One of the most important responsibilities of today’s leaders is preparing future leaders,” Revell said. “These promotions reflect the depth of talent within our department and our commitment to developing leaders who are ready to guide this organization into the future. I hope every officer sees that there is a path to leadership through hard work, integrity and service.”

Those promoted were Deputy Chief Calvin Bedenbaugh, Deputy Chief Jeff Mahoney, Major Sonya Bush, Captain Charzetta Felton, Captain Anitra Highland Simmonds, Captain Zachary Lyne, Captain Damon Miller Jr., and Captain Laura Varble.

The department congratulated the newly promoted leaders and said it looks forward to the experience, vision and guidance they will bring to their new roles.
