Bertha bringing drier and hotter days for Central Florida. Here’s the latest.

  • July 21, 2026

ORLANDO, Fla. – After several days of tropical moisture and scattered downpours, Central Florida is finally getting a break from the rain. As Tropical Storm Bertha moves farther west across the Gulf, drier air is filtering into the state, leading to lower rain chances but hotter temperatures through the week.

Tuesday

Tropical Storm Bertha continues to move west northwest across the northern Gulf and is not expected to bring any direct impacts to Central Florida. However, the system will keep conditions a bit breezy Tuesday, with south to southeast winds occasionally gusting to around 20 mph.

Even with drier air moving in, a few isolated afternoon showers and thunderstorms remain possible, mainly across the interior as the sea breeze develops. Rain chances stay low, around 20 to 30 percent, but any storm that forms could still produce frequent lightning, wind gusts up to 50 mph, brief heavy rain.

Midweek

As rain chances decrease through Wednesday and Thursday, sunshine will become more common and temperatures will continue climbing into the low to mid 90s each afternoon.

When combined with Florida’s humidity, it’ll feel more like 100 to 107 degrees during the hottest part of the day.

Late Week-Weekend

The quieter weather won’t last long. Moisture is expected to gradually increase late this week, allowing scattered afternoon thunderstorms to become more common again beginning Saturday.

By early next week, a weakening front drifting toward Florida should help restore a more typical summertime weather pattern, with daily afternoon showers and thunderstorms returning alongside continued highs in the 90s.
