ORLANDO, Fla. (CBS12) — A Florida man accused of stabbing a rideshare driver after being denied a ride was tracked down and arrested at an IHOP restaurant by Orlando police bicycle officers, authorities said.
The incident happened Monday morning near East Marks Street and Kenilworth Terrace. According to the Orlando Police Department, officers responded after receiving reports of a stabbing.
Investigators said the victim, a rideshare driver, refused to provide a ride because the suspect had not requested one through the rideshare app. Police said an argument followed, and the suspect allegedly stabbed the driver before fleeing the area.
Officers quickly began searching for the suspect and soon located 31-year-old Jovaughn Nathan Matthie inside a nearby IHOP.

An officer can be heard saying, with his gun drawn, while ordering Matthie to surrender:
Get down and lay on the floor.”

The video shows Matthie complying with officers’ commands before being taken into custody without incident.

Matthie was arrested and booked on an attempted murder charge, police said.

The condition of the rideshare driver has not been released.
Orlando police said the investigation remains active and that additional details are being withheld while detectives continue to gather and review evidence.
