St. Petersburg, FL – A St. Petersburg man has been arrested after investigators said he allegedly damaged a downtown luxury condominium building in an incident that caused tens of thousands of dollars in property damage.
According to the St. Petersburg Police Department arrest report, 34-year-old Andrew O’Neill was identified as one of two men connected to the July 11th vandalism investigation at 400 Central Avenue.
Police said surveillance video captured O’Neill and another man allegedly removing an exterior light fixture from the building and using it to strike windows multiple times.
Investigators estimated the total damage from the incident at approximately $96,000.
The arrest report states that several windows were damaged during the incident, with each window valued at about $25,000.
O’Neill was taken into custody and charged with criminal mischief related to the reported property damage.
Authorities also identified James Boyle as a second person involved in the investigation.
According to jail records, Boyle had not been arrested as of the latest available information.
Police have not released a possible motive for the reported vandalism.
The allegations against O’Neill are based on information contained in the arrest report, and the case will proceed through the court system.
The damaged building at 400 Central Avenue is located in downtown St. Petersburg, an area that includes residential developments, businesses and public spaces.
Investigators have not announced whether additional charges or arrests are expected as they continue reviewing the case.
