HOLLYWOOD, Fla. — A lieutenant with the Hollywood Police Department was arrested Monday on two counts of battery on a person 65 years of age or older, authorities confirmed.

Osvaldo Perez, 50, a 25-year veteran of HPD who lives in Southwest Ranches, was being held Wednesday at the Broward Main Jail on a $75,000 bond, according to jail records.

HPD officials said the agency is taking the allegations seriously.

“Lt. Perez has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of this investigation,” said HPD Chief Jeff Devlin in a statement.

Devlin said investigators are cooperating with the Miramar Police Department, which is handling the investigation.

Local 10 has requested Perez’s arrest report.
