5 things to know about Orlando’s Pitch Side exhibition

ORLANDO, Fla. — The World Cup might be over, but soccer obsession continues.

Pitch Side is a new exhibit inside CityArts in downtown Orlando. It brings together designers shaped by the rhythm of the world’s game — soccer.
Kyle Eagle and Ashley Taylor are the curators. They call it “Pitch Side” because that is equivalent to being courtside in basketball. It exemplifies the proximity to the action.
This contemporary art showcase explores the beauty, grit, and cultural connectivity of the game. Designers are interpreting the sport beyond what is seen on a stadium television. “I think people forget sometimes that the sports business is all about design, colors, looks,” Eagle said. “If you looked at the way players looked in the ’30s to now, it’s constantly evolving.”
The Downtown Arts District‘s mission is to elevate the vibrancy and accessibility of art. “It’s (The exhibit) a beautiful enhancement,” district spokesperson Jaison Radcliff said. “And it highlights sports within Central Florida, and most of all, here in Orlando. So this is an incredible celebration.”
Pitch Side runs through Aug. 15. Admission is free.
