  • July 22, 2026

Crash happened near SR-417 interchange

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A driver was killed after running a red light and crashing into a semi-truck in Orange County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The crash happened around 2 a.m. Monday at the intersection of Orange Blossom Trail (U.S. Highway 441), near the State Road 417 interchange.

According to an FHP report, the driver of a 2025 Kia K4 was heading southbound on Orange Blossom Trail when he ran a red light approaching the northbound exit ramp from State Road 417. A 2023 Freightliner semi-tractor-trailer was making a left turn from the State Road 417 off-ramp onto northbound Orange Blossom Trail when the Kia struck the left side of the trailer.

The Kia then continued south, ran off the road, and struck a light pole.

The driver of the Kia, an adult male whose identity is pending confirmation, was pronounced dead at the scene. The semi-truck driver was not injured and remained on scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
