It’s been a mainstay on Edgewater Drive since opening back in April of 2016, but Armando’s in College Park has closed. A note posted on the door of the Italian restaurant announced the Nov. 3 closure after 10 years of serving the strip engorged with Italian restaurants.

But fret not, lovers of chicken parm, chicken marsala and veal piccata: Another Italian restaurant — one also backed by Armando’s owner Armando Martorelli — will flow into the Armando’s space, bringing “affordability” to Edgewater Drive’s Italian-leaning restaurant landscape.

Vesuvio will spew forth Italian classics at prices geared toward volume, that is, in the $16-$22 range. For all you regulars, you’ll be pleased to know that many of Armando’s servers and cooks will stay on at Vesuvio, which will get a thorough refresh in the form of a new paint job, color scheme and refinished tabletops.

Look for Vesuvio to open Nov. 12. And those craving the vibe and fare at Armando’s can still visit the Hannibal Square and Lake Nona locations.
