BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – Local organizations are working with other regional groups to address the mental health of veterans in the Panhandle.
Florida Springs Wellness and Recovery Center is working alongside a number of Alabama and Florida-based agencies to help open the conversation regarding veteran suicide and mental health awareness.
They’re hosting a Military, Veteran, and First Responders Suicide Prevention Summit coming up in August for members and their families
The idea is to help those in need connect with peers and professionals, so they can lift each other up during the hardest of times.
“So as an organization, we are supporting our first responders, military, and veterans in this community. And we’re offering this event for our colleagues as well. So individuals that are licensed professionals, they’re able to attend to get continuing education requirements. So we’ll be providing those at the event as well,” Florida Springs Wellness and Recovery Center CEO Amy Hancock said.
The summit will take place at Calvary Church in Panama City on Friday, August 7, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
