Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights will feature a scare zone inspired by Fortnitemares, a seasonal event created by the Fortnite video game, this year.
The scare zone will include familiar Fortnitemares characters and additions that are exclusive to HHN, Universal says. Also on the scene will be the Freaky Fields battleground and the Battle Bus.
Fortnite is an online game introduced by Epic Games in 2017. It has developed from a survival game into a social gaming platform with multiple game modes. Previous Fortnitemares events incorporated appearances by horror-genre icons such as Ghostface (“Scream”) and Jason Voorhees (“Friday the 13th”).
This is the third scare zone announced for 2026 Horror Nights. Also in the works are Sideshow of Decay, featuring a carnival junkyard, and Infernal Carnival of Nightmares, tied to the characters of Jack the Clown and Dr. Oddfellow. Universal’s website also lists two “street experiences” called Mel’s Die-in: Zombies and Club Horror, located in the streets of San Francisco with an undead DJ. The Killer Klowns from Outer Space was announced as “coming to the streets” on Universal social media accounts, although it hasn’t been added to the website.

Halloween Horror Nights runs at Universal Studios Florida theme park on select nights between Aug. 28 and Nov. 1. The Fortnitemares scare zone will also be produced at the Horror Nights event at Universal Studios Hollywood in California.
