The city of Cape Coral released hundreds of financial and operational records after responding to a request from Florida’s Department of Government Efficiency, giving residents greater access to information about municipal spending. City officials said they were not required to make the documents public but chose to do so in the interest of transparency. The records include a purchase order analysis for fiscal years 2024 through 2026 that details payments to vendors. Among the largest fiscal 2026 expenditures were about $52 million to Southwest Utility Systems Inc., $30 million to Oscar Renda Contracting Inc., $16.7 million to Lee County Electric Cooperative Inc. and $16.5 million to Waste Pro of Florida Inc. City officials said infrastructure and public safety remain major spending priorities as Cape Coral continues to grow, WINK News reports.
