We’ve got an important warning before you use the new Express Pass option at Epic Universe!
Mine Cart Madness
Express Pass is Universal’s skip-the-line service that allows guests to bypass the standby lines at select attractions and use the shorter Express lines instead. Previously, the two options included the regular Universal Express Pass, which includes one-time access to each eligible ride, or Universal Express Unlimited, which grants unlimited access to the Express lines at included attractions. But last year, Universal began testing a new Express Pass option that allows people to purchase a pass for a single attraction. And we’ve got a word of warning for anyone planning to try the newest Express Pass offering on their next trip!
Universal’s Express Pass system can be a great way to experience a lot of attractions in a limited amount of time. But there’s no denying that the regular Express Pass and Express Unlimited are EXPENSIVE. Pricing varies based on date and park, but we’ve seen Express Pass run anywhere from $119.99 to $359.99 per person per day, and Express Unlimited run around $149.99 to $379.99 per person per day.

If price is a limiting factor for you, but you still want to save some time on a budget, the new Universal Express Now option allows guests to buy à la carte, one-time passes for specific individual attractions for around $20-$25 per person. But we had to share something super confusing that we noticed while using Express Now in Epic Universe!
Yoshi’s Adventure
Express Now passes can be purchased through the Universal app. And we noticed that the rides offered can change from moment to moment! When we first pulled up the app, the rides that had Express Now passes available were Yoshi’s Adventure, Fyre Drill, and Hiccup’s Wing Gliders. All three of these rides typically have some of the shorter waits for Epic Universe attractions, so we weren’t super tempted to shell out the money for a skip-the-line pass for them.
Fyre Drill
BUT, when we refreshed the app, the list of Express Now rides changed, with Yoshi’s Adventure no longer offered and Mine Cart Madness available instead. Mine Cart Madness is often one of the highest wait times in the park, so while the original three rides were super “meh,” it was a HUGE deal to be able to snag Mine Cart Madness!

Lesson learned — if you plan to try out Universal Express Now, beware that the available attractions can change. Be sure to refresh the app to see what rides are currently available and if you see a must-do, grab it in case it gets swapped out shortly!
