The Jacksonville Police Department will host its 13th annual Running with the Law races on Tuesday, Aug. 4, in downtown Jacksonville.
The event will take place at Riverwalk Park. A kickoff ceremony is scheduled for 6 p.m., with races beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Participants can choose from a 5K, 10K or one-mile fun run.
Registration costs are:
$40 for the 5K$50 for the 10K$25 for the one-mile fun run

Race packet pickup will be held Aug. 3 from noon to 7 p.m. at Fleet Feet, located at 1154 Western Blvd. Packets can also be picked up before the race at the downtown Riverwalk main stage.
Race day check-in and registration will begin at 5 p.m. at the downtown main stage.
Law enforcement officers from several agencies are expected to participate. Proceeds will benefit NC Special Olympics, which has a longstanding relationship with Jacksonville police and law enforcement through the Law Enforcement Torch Run, Tip a Cop and other fundraising events.
We are excited to return to downtown Jacksonville for this year’s Running with the Law Sunset Pursuit,” Jacksonville Police Chief Ashley Weaver said. “We have switched up the routes a little and incorporated food trucks. This is a family-friendly event that allows people of all abilities to participate. We hope our citizens will join us as we support a great cause.
Running with the Law is the department’s opening event leading up to National Night Out.
This year’s National Night Out will be held Saturday, Oct. 10, from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at the Jacksonville Parks & Recreation Complex, located at 100 Recreation Lane.
National Night Out is free to the public and will include entertainment, a bike raffle, food vendors, displays, fireworks and more.
