The playground at Largo Central Park shuts down Aug. 11. Workers will build a 91-foot Ninja Course modeled after American Ninja Warrior. Kids of all ages can use it, and wheelchair users will have access too.
Largo Parks & Rec shared plans that include obstacles, a rock wall, and a warped wall. Pictures show a jungle gym that looks like a real jungle. Rope swings? Check. Slides and teeter-totters? Those too.
Every child will find something here, no matter their abilities.
“The improvements will help enhance one of Largo’s most popular family destinations,” the City of Largo Recreation posted on Facebook, according to I Love the Burg. “Largo Central Park is enjoyed by more than one million people each year and hosts dozens of major events and celebrations.”
This 28-acre park brings in over a million people annually. Events happen year-round, and shaded paths crisscross the grounds.
Construction won’t affect the rest of the park. Crews will fence off just the play area while finishing up this fall.
Largo Central Park Nature Reserve sits right next door, where more than 130 bird species make their homes alongside foxes, otters, and gators.
The renderings display sprawling play zones scattered across the refreshed grounds, with separate sections targeting different ages.
The City of Largo Recreation runs the park but hasn’t set a finish date yet.
This project represents a big bet on what’s already one of Florida’s busiest parks, drawing families from surrounding areas who come for the activities and facilities.
