BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – LSU football finally has their day at the podium during the 2026 SEC Media Days in Tampa, Florida. It was a packed ballroom of sports media members and SEC representatives to hear head coach Lane Kiffin speak ahead of his first season at LSU.
“It’s been a great 7 months,” Kiffin said as he reflected on his time so far in Baton Rouge.
He didn’t take the trip to Tampa alone. Three players who are expected to play key roles on this new LSU football roster also addressed local and national media.
Linebacker Whit Weeks foregoes the NFL Draft to return for his senior season after injuries kept him sidelined for a chunk of his junior campaign. “I understand that in my first three years here we didn’t win a lot of ball games. I know that, and I take that personally,” Weeks acknowledged as he put into perspective what he wants his LSU legacy to be.
“It’s every kid’s dream in Louisiana to go play for those three letters and two colors.” Junior tight end Trey’Dez Green grew up about 45 minutes from Tiger Stadium in Jackson, La. Green had told the crowd what it means to him to have the chance to play at the highest level and represent LSU, calling it a “blessing.”
Redshirt senior linebacker TJ Dottery was the third player who made an appearance for the Tigers in Tampa. Dottery transferred into the program after spending the last two seasons at Ole Miss under Coach Kiffin.
LSU will kick off the upcoming season at home, hosting Clemson on Sept. 5th at Death Valley.
