There’s an old adage about keeping work and home separate. Jean-Georges Vongerichten clearly isn’t interested in following it.

The Michelin-starred chef, whose culinary empire spans dozens of restaurants around the globe, has signed a contract for a condo at the Jean-Georges Miami Tropic Residences, the 49-story branded tower that marks his first foray into residential real estate. Soon, he’ll own a residence in the same building where he’s helping shape nearly every aspect of the culinary experience.

Vongerichten played a hands-on role in the project, designing the kitchens in each residence and curating the building’s food and beverage program, which includes resident-only dining options, rooftop service, private catering, in-home refrigerator stocking, and Miami’s first ABC Kitchens, combining concepts from his popular ABC Kitchen, ABCV, and ABC Cocina brands.

“We’ve envisioned Miami Tropic as an extension of my hospitality-driven restaurant portfolio—where food, design, wellness, and community come together,” Vongerichten said in a statement announcing the purchase. “I chose to make this my own home because I truly believe in what we’ve created.” For his own pied-à-terre, he selected a three-bedroom, three-and-a-half-bath corner unit with about 2,300 square feet of interior space, plus a roughly 1,000-square-foot wraparound terrace overlooking Biscayne Bay and the downtown Miami skyline. The listing price was $3.49 million.

Vongerichten won’t be the only renowned name buying into the tower. Argentine polo champion and philanthropist Nacho Figueras and his son, Hilario, recently signed a contract for a three-bedroom, three-and-a-half-bath residence listed for $3.1 million, while Alpine Formula 1 driver Pierre Gasly opted for a four-bedroom home on one of the highest floors that was asking $4.9 million.

The project, developed by Terra and Lion, is rising between the Miami Design District and Midtown. Designed by Arquitectonica, with interiors by Yabu Pushelberg, the tower will have 338 residences and more than 80,000 square feet of amenities, including two swimming pools, a rooftop lounge, coworking spaces, squash courts, and a wellness club created in partnership with The Well, complete with treatment rooms, thermal experiences, and recovery facilities.
