TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A Mahan Drive home is now considered unlivable after a fire, believed by Tallahassee firefighters to be caused by a malfunctioning vehicle, spread to the property.
The incident transpired at about 10:40 p.m. Thursday in the 5200 block of Mahan Drive, the Tallahassee Fire Department revealed Friday morning.
Firefighters arrived in the area to find flames extending into the carport, a bedroom, an attic and nearby trees, the fire department wrote in a press release.

Moments later, crews brought the fire under control within about 10 minutes, preventing further spread, firefighters said.
The press release went on to reveal that the fire is believed to have been caused by “a malfunctioning vehicle that the homeowner reported was making unusual noises before it was parked.”

Upon the firefighters’ arrival, TFD said the homeowner was safely outside and searches confirmed that no one remained inside.
Also, the homeowner had alternate accommodations, so the American Red Cross was not requested, the statement wrote.
Furthermore, no injuries were reported.
