Orlando, FL – CareerSource Central Florida hosted a job fair in Orlando to help veterans and military spouses connect with employers offering career opportunities across multiple industries.

The hiring event was held Thursday at the Holden Heights Community Center in recognition of National Hire a Veteran Day, which is observed annually on July 25th.

More than 20 employers participated, meeting with job seekers interested in positions ranging from entry level jobs to management roles.

Representatives from organizations in government, transportation, utilities, hospitality, public safety and financial services attended the event.

Employers included Disney, Orlando Utilities Commission, the City of Orlando, Waste Pro and the Florida Department of Transportation Training Academy, among others.

In addition to speaking directly with recruiters, attendees were able to distribute resumes, receive complimentary professional headshots and participate in onsite interviews with some employers.

Organizers said the event was designed to provide veterans with opportunities to build professional connections while exploring careers that match their military experience and skill sets.

According to CareerSource Central Florida, Florida is home to nearly 1.4 million veterans, making it the state with the nation’s second largest veteran population.

While many veterans successfully transition into civilian employment, the organization said a significant number remain underemployed, working in positions that do not fully utilize their training and professional backgrounds.

Officials said events like the annual job fair help bridge that gap by bringing employers and qualified candidates together in one location.

Organizers also emphasized the value veterans bring to the workforce through leadership, teamwork, technical expertise and problem solving skills developed during military service.

CareerSource Central Florida said it will continue offering employment resources and workforce development programs to help veterans and their families pursue long term career success throughout the region.
