UPDATE:

MIAMI COUNTY, Ohio (WKEF) — A crash on Interstate 75 this morning caused one person to be brought to the hospital, along with hazmat cleanup of the roadway.

According to the Piqua Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, troopers responded to a crash that occurred around 8:09 a.m. today on Interstate 75 northbound in Troy.

Troopers say a Volvo tractor-tanker trailer, driven by Donald Thomas, 61, and a Chevrolet HHR, driven by Michael Huff, 54, with a passenger, Jade Huff, 35, were both driving north.

The Volvo was in the middle lane, and the Chevrolet was in the left lane.

Troopers say that when the lanes merged from three lanes to two lanes, the Chevrolet merged into the middle lane and hit the Volvo.

The Chevrolet then went into the left lane and hit the median cable barrier.

The Volvo went into the right lane and flipped over, becoming separated from its tanker trailer, and stopped on its side off the right shoulder, while the tanker trailer section continued to move forward and stopped in a cornfield on the side of the roadway.

Ohio State Highway Patrol says they alerted hazmat crews to come assist as the tanker had leaked fuel into the field when it flipped.

Thomas, the driver of the Volvo, was brought to the hospital with serious non-life-threatening injuries.

Huff, the driver of the Chevrolet, and his passenger were both treated at the scene for their possible injuries.

Troopers say Huff was found to be at fault for the crash, and he was cited for a Turn Signal/Lane Change violation.

The right lane of Interstate 75 is currently closed for investigation and cleanup.

The Piqua Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating this incident.

A semi-truck and a tanker crashed.

A hazmat team was requested due to one of the vehicles leaking fuel.

As seen on OHGO cameras, the northbound lanes appear to be backed up, but moving slowly through the crash area. However, the right lane is blocked beyond State Route 41/Covington/Troy currently.
