As we move right along with the AFC South division, we take a look at the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jags won 13 of 17 games last season even after first-round pick Travis Hunter tore his knee up. They have made no veteran additions this offseason, but feel like they’re built to win now. Many questions arise this offseason for the Jags, including their lackluster draft, which was rated among the worst by experts. What else should Jags fans expect during camp?
As I have stated before, 2025 first-round selection Travis Hunter was considered a “unicorn pick” or a “generational talent.” He should have never played both ways in today’s NFL. Now, the Jaguars see him as a full-time cornerback. He will need to play like a Hall of Famer early on in his career to justify what the Jags gave up to draft him. In case you’re wondering, it was four draft picks, including the 2026 number one pick, to the Cleveland Browns.
The Jaguars will play seven games this season against playoff teams, so the number of yards they allow through the air must improve. They finished last season ranked 21st, allowing 218 yards passing per game. This will be a major priority this season. Have they made enough changes to improve? We shall see soon.
The Jags were third with a plus-13 turnover ratio on the year last season. Six of their giveaways were in the red zone, which was the most in the league. They will need to find a way to be more productive, which could be hard without Travis Etienne in the backfield.
