A 72-year-old man was killed after his pickup truck crossed into oncoming traffic and crashed head-on with a van in St. Petersburg early Thursday morning.
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A 72-year-old man was killed in a head-on crash overnight in St. Petersburg.
The crash happened at 1:37 a.m. Thursday on 5th Avenue North near Lafayette Street North, a couple of blocks west of 37th Street North.
Police say a 72-year-old man was driving a pickup truck eastbound when he crossed into the westbound lanes and collided head-on with a van.
St. Petersburg police identified the pick-up truck driver as Charles Peter Caravana. He died at the scene.
A 67-year-old woman driving the van was taken to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital, where she is stable.
The investigation is ongoing.
