LAKELAND, Fla. (WFLA) — Police arrested a Tampa man in Lakeland on human trafficking and drug charges after he allegedly traveled to meet who he believed to be a teenage girl.
According to the Tampa Police Department, Fozi Nagi Al-Zokari, 48, initiated a text conversation with an undercover detective on July 14 in response to a post of what he believed to be a parent trying to prostitute their 14-year-old daughter.
The suspect and the detective communicated for multiple days, during which police said Al-Zokari agreed to travel to Lakeland and pay $200 to sexually abuse the child.
Al-Zokari arrived at the designated meeting place on Wednesday at 10 p.m., and he was taken into custody.
Officers searched Al-Zokari and found $300, two unopened packs of condoms and plastic baggies containing methamphetamine.
In the backseat of Al-Zokari’s vehicle, officers found a black suitcase containing a bag with several sexual toys and one large hatchet, LPD said.
Al-Zokari was taken to the Polk County Jail and booked on the following charges:
Human trafficking forced sex trade – victim under 18
Use of a computer to solicit a parent or guardian
Traveling to meet using a computer to solicit a guardian
Unlawful use of a two-way communication device
Possession of methamphetamine
Possession or use of drug paraphernalia
