Flirting with record highs to start the weekend for Tallahassee, the Big Bend and South Georgia 🌡️

  • July 25, 2026

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Tallahassee fell short of the record on Friday, but we will be making a run at record territory again on Saturday and early next week as temperatures climb into the upper 90s.

Near-record Saturday

A very humid start to our weekend. Morning temperatures in the upper 70s. Despite the muggy air, it will be the best time to get outside activities done.

A very hot afternoon with a high around 97, which will threaten the record high of 99 set back in 2012. It should feel a little less humid during the afternoon, but I still expect the heat index (feels-like) between 100 and 108 this afternoon.

A heat advisory is in effect for the eastern Big Bend, which is where the highest numbers will be this afternoon.

Scattered thundershowers will develop after 2 p.m. and help cool down a FEW spots. Most of us will be feeling the extreme heat for much of the day. Be sure you are taking frequent breaks if you are spending extended time outside and stay hydrated.

Much better boating and beach conditions this weekend. Although a few showers are possible this afternoon, most of the day will be dry.

Waves 1 to 2 feet with a NW wind 5 to 10 knots, turning onshore during the afternoon. A light chop on protected waters.

Waves up to 3 feet tomorrow and a little choppier on the bays due to a west wind 10 to 15 knots.

Rip current risk is moderate, so the dangerous swimming conditions are not expected today. However, still be careful in the water as you try to cool off this weekend!

There will be more clouds and higher rain coverage on Sunday, so highs will come down a few degrees. However, it is still going to be HOT, especially late morning to early afternoon before clouds and showers tomorrow afternoon. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible between noon and dinner time.

Rain chances go down on Monday and Tuesday, which means temperatures go up! I expect highs to get CLOSE to the century mark on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, which is flirting with record highs each afternoon. Very warm mornings in the upper 70s.

Rain chance goes up on Wednesday afternoon and will last through late week. Very warm mornings in the upper 70s.
