A man wanted in New Hampshire since 2021 for allegedly sexually assaulting a child for years was arrested in Miami on Tuesday, the U.S. Marshals said.
Mart Adorno, 43, faces two dozen counts of sex crime charges over what the Marshals Service described as a pattern of sexual violence that started when the alleged victim was 7 and continued through Nov. 8, 2020, when they were 16.
Resources for victims of sexual assault are available through the National Sexual Violence Resources Center and the National Sexual Assault Telephone Hotline at 800-656-4673, and Massachusetts provides this list of statewide and resources for sexual assault survivors.
Adorno fled the scene of that sexual assault report in Manchester, the Marshals said, and an arrest warrant was issued for him on Jan. 19, 2021 in Hillsborough County Superior Court — North.
Manchester police asked for federal help finding Adorno, who was believed to be in Kissimmee, Florida, the Marshals said. He was eventually tracked to the Miami area and taken into custody in Miami’s Wynwood neighborhood Tuesday.
It wasn’t immediately clear if Adorno had an attorney who could speak to the charges, which include nine counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault. The Marshals said he had waived an extradition hearing and would be brought back to New Hampshire.
Adorno’s criminal record includes drug, domestic violence and law enforcement assault convictions, officials said. He’s allegedly also gone by Julius Reyes and Victor Cruz — an alias was what the Marshals said led to his discovery in Florida.
