TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Kevin Record returned to Tallahassee at noon on Saturday from a bike trip around the world.
The 66-year-old Leon high school tennis coach crossed the finish line at the Lions tennis courts in front of close to 100 supporters.
Record left 432 days ago from those same tennis courts on a trip that spanned 18 countries and 30 United States. On the average day, he would bike between 50-60 miles.
During the ride, he raised over 25,000 dollars for the Alzheimers Association, in memory of his parents, who both passed away of the disease.
“They were adventurous too,” said Record, shortly after completing the ride. “They traveled the world. They were school teachers as well. So to be able to honor them, and that was the reason for doing this, was to honor them, and we got that job done. They would be very happy that I did this for them and proud. I felt their spirit with me, for sure.”
We will have an in depth look at Record’s travels on Sunday night.
