TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – The Junior League of Tallahassee helped local students prepare for the upcoming school year during its 30th annual Kids’ Boutique event Saturday.
The event allowed 100 Leon County elementary school students to shop for back-to-school essentials. The Junior League works with guidance counselors throughout Leon County schools to identify children who could benefit from the program.
“We’ve had some tears this morning that she couldn’t have done back to school without us, and that literally gives me goose bumps seeing how excited not only the kids are but the families,” said Junior League of Tallahassee President-elect Mac Little.

Students received new clothes, shoes and backpacks filled with school supplies to help them start the school year feeling prepared and confident.
“You’re supposed to be excited to have your new pack of crayons and things like that to open up on that first day, and the fact that we get to be a part of that is so amazing,” said Little.
Little said the event also helps ease the financial burden many families face during back-to-school shopping.
In addition to receiving school supplies, students enjoyed pizza and snow cones during the event.
