The Poets are Coming!
YoungArts Shoot Brings 50+ Voices Together for Poetry City
A powerful statement on Miami’s thriving literary community was made at the recent SocialMiami.com photoshoot for Poetry City, a multi-disciplinary collaboration. The shoot was held in The Jewel Box at the iconic YoungArts campus.
SocialMiami’s Manny Hernandez captured more than 50 poets from across the community, celebrating the city’s vibrant poetic landscape.
This gathering was held in anticipation of the Poetry City theatrical presentation, the grand finale event for the upcoming Poetry City documentary, directed by Aaron Glickman.
This jazzy and poetic theatrical event is scheduled for November 20, 2025, at the Miami Book Fair. The performance begins at 6:30 p.m. in the MDC Live Arts Lab located on Miami Dade College’s Wolfson Campus in downtown Miami.
The presentation will showcase a historical glimpse into Miami’s poetry scene featuring a dynamic blend of local poets performing alongside a live jazz trio, creating a subtle dialogue between words and sound.
The event will be narrated by THE BISCAYNE POET, Oscar Fuentes. Performing alongside Oscar are Poetry Ambassador for the Miami-Dade County Mayor’s Office, Nicole Tallman, Miami-Dade County Poet Laureate Caridad Moro-Gronlier, and esteemed poets Arsimmer McCoy and Trey Rhone.
Actors Daniel Sanchez and Megan Zorrilla will embody Bicycle Poet Jeffery Knapp and Marjory Stoneman Douglas. The reading is being staged by JC Gutierrez, producing artistic director of JCAT Miami.
Sponsors of this project include Lisa Palley, Meme Ferre, FIU Ferre Institute, and Glickman Media Incorporated.
