Miami drivers are paying more at the pump for the third consecutive week, with the average price of regular gasoline rising another 3.7 cents per gallon to $4.00.
On Key Biscayne, the price of regular gasoline climbed to $5.79 per gallon, keeping the Island as the most expensive place to fill up in Miami-Dade County.
According to GasBuddy’s survey of 1,690 stations in Miami, gas prices are now 15.5 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and 91.0 cents higher than a year ago.
GasBuddy reported the cheapest station in Miami was selling regular gasoline for $3.43 per gallon on Sunday, while Key Biscayne’s $5.79 per gallon was the highest reported price in the county, a difference of $2.36 per gallon.
Across Florida, the lowest reported price on Sunday was also $3.43 per gallon, while the highest reached $6.49 per gallon.
Nationally, the average price of regular gasoline increased 10.8 cents per gallon over the past week, averaging $4.06 to start the final workweek of July.
“Average gasoline and diesel prices rose in nearly every state over the last week as continued escalations between the U.S. and Iran and renewed Houthi attacks in the Red Sea fueled concerns over global oil supplies,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.
“However, a weekend pullback in hostilities offered some relief, with oil prices opening sharply lower Sunday, suggesting the pace of increases at the pump may moderate in the days ahead. For now, motorists should expect prices to remain elevated, but the intensity of further gains will depend heavily on how the geopolitical situation develops in the coming week.”
