When we talk about Universal snacks, most people think of Epic Universe!
Let’s talk food!
Universal’s newest theme park does have some amazing bites, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t other gems hidden around Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. One of our favorite restaurants in the park, Minion Cafe, added NEW menu items, and we’re here to put them to the test.
Bellow! Welcome to Minion Cafe in Universal Studios Florida. The quick service restaurant has become one of our favorite spots in the theme parks to dine in. It offers a variety of options for picky and adventurous eaters, but are the newest menu items up to par?
Minion Cafe
First, we grabbed the Otto’s Carbonara for $20.99. This is made with yellow cavatappi, garlic cream sauce, pancetta, and peas. This sounds right up our alley, but is it as good as we hope?
The carbonara
This dish was super creamy and full of flavor! The noodles were evenly coated with Alfredo sauce, and there were tons of fresh peas throughout the dish. The chunks of bacon were well rendered, making the dish even more savory and flavorful. Every bite was full of bacon, cream, peas, and pasta.
We are BIG fans!
There was a dusting of Parmesan cheese across the top to add to the flavor. While we did love it, we won’t pretend it was a truly faithful version of a carbonara. If you’re a fan of a high-quality or homemade version of this dish, the Minion Cafe version might not be your favorite. The portion size was generous and easily sharable.
Have a bite!
Next, we grabbed Jerry’s Mega Cheesy Burger for $18.99! This dish is made with an all-beef patty, American cheese, crispy bacon, lettuce, tomato, and cheese sauce all on a house-made brioche bun. It’s also served with a nice side of Minion tots.
Jerry’s Mega Cheesy Burger
This promised lots of cheese, and it gave us LOTS of cheese. The burger was very nicely cooked. It was closer to a medium with a warm pink center. It was juicy and flavorful. The bun was soft and seared on the bottom. The bun melted into our mouths in every bite.
Look at this thing!
The bacon was well rendered with a perfect amount of crispy and fatty bits. There was plenty of cheese as well as fresh lettuce and tomato. The lettuce added a nice crunch to the soft burger. The cheese sauce came on the side, which we really appreciated. While it was delicious, it would have been a bit too much in our opinion.
A look inside!
We loved adding a bit of the cheese sauce to our burger, but we loved dipping those minion tots in the cheese sauce for some extra flavor and creaminess!
Dip it!
These two new items just reiterate why we are obsessed with Minion Cafe! It has plenty of options for your entire family, and we think it could arguably be the best quick service in Universal Studios Florida. As always, be sure to keep following AllEars for more Universal news, reviews, updates, and more.
