‘TODAY’ show teaming up with Universal Orlando Resort to explore dozens of rides, restaurants
A familiar face is coming to Universal Orlando Resort.
Starting Wednesday, Al Roker from the “TODAY” show will be the face of a new partnership called “Universal TODAY.”
The new partnership will help guests navigate the resort’s attractions, dining and events through a video series.
With more than 40 rides, 60 restaurants, and rotating quarterly events, Universal Orlando can be overwhelming for visitors. The “TODAY” show is stepping in to simplify the experience.
“We had this brainstorm that people, when they show up to Universal Orlando Studios, they turn on the TV, they want to know what they want to do, the places they want to go,” Roker said in an interview with WESH 2.
In May, Roker shared details about the project, which will provide guests with curated recommendations and behind-the-scenes looks at the resort.
“We decided to go with somebody with a certain amount of panache… oh, it’s me!” Roker said.
This initiative builds on an earlier partnership between Universal Orlando and the “TODAY” show, which opened the TODAY Cafe in 2019. Now, the collaboration will extend to in-room TVs, offering insights before guests head out to explore.
“We show you the best of the food, of the rides, take you behind the scenes of the rides, I think it’s brilliant,” Roker said.
The program will also keep guests informed about seasonal events, such as Mardi Gras in the spring and the new “Jaws” expansion debuting this summer.
“We are part of people’s lives … whether you like it or not! … a thrill and a privilege,” Roker said.
