CHICAGO (TNND) — A former Indianapolis Colts linebacker has been deported by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement after authorities said he was living in the United States illegally and had a criminal history.
Daniel Ogama Adongo, 37, of Kenya, played for the Colts from 2013 to 2015. According to ICE, he overstayed a visa that expired in 2016 and was arrested multiple times by Indiana law enforcement “over the past nine years on allegations including felony intimidation, battery and disorderly conduct.”
ICE said Adongo was convicted of criminal mischief with damage in 2020 and sentenced to 364 days in jail.
The agency said his most recent criminal charges fall under the Laken Riley Act, a federal law that requires the detention without bond of immigrants who are in the country illegally and are accused of or convicted of certain crimes. President Donald Trump signed the legislation into law on Jan. 29, 2025.
This dangerous individual was clearly a threat to the community, which is now safer since he’s been removed,” ICE Chicago Assistant Field Office Director Douglas Thompson said. “Those who violate immigration law are held equally accountable, including former professional athletes.
According to ICE, a Department of Justice immigration judge ordered Adongo removed from the United States on March 23, 2026. The agency said he was deported to Kenya on June 20.
