GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – Florida head coach Jon Sumrall has won talking season.
The Gators’ new leader brought the energy at his introductory press conference and at SEC Media Days, and as the season gets closer, he is already making moves on the coaching staff. One of the biggest moves is on special teams, where Sumrall has hired someone with NFL experience to help run the unit.
Meet new coordinator Greg McMahon.
McMahon ran special teams at Tulane in 2024, Sumrall’s first season there, before retiring at season’s end. Now he is coming out of retirement to follow Sumrall to Gainesville.
Before Tulane, McMahon ran LSU’s special teams for four years, helping the Tigers win a national title. He also spent 11 seasons with the New Orleans Saints and was part of a Super Bowl-winning staff.
In Gainesville, he will assist special teams coordinator Johnathan Galante.
