SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – With the Florida primary election coming up Aug. 18, the Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections Office is reminding citizens that the deadline to request a vote-by-mail ballot is Thursday, Aug. 6.
Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections Ron Turner says at requests must be received by his office by 5 p.m. on Aug. 6.
“There’s still time to request a vote-by-mail ballot … but time is running out,” he said in a news release Tuesday.
Voters may submit a vote-by-mail request three ways:
Online using the Mail Ballot Request ServiceIn person at any of the three elections officesBy phone, at 941-861-8618
Florida is a closed primary state, which means only voters who are registered members of a political party may vote in that party’s primary Aug. 18.
For voters with minor party or no party affiliation, there will still be races to vote on, including countywide races for three school board seats. Voters in the City of Sarasota will also cast ballots for two at-large city commission seats.
