Tampa is apparently the new Flavortown.
This summer, Food Network star and celebrity chef Guy Fieri has popped up at a number of local restaurants, and now we can add West Tampa’s Boozy Pig Butchery & Kitchen to the list.
The popular butcher shop and sandwich-focused cafe (technically in the Midtown neighborhood) will be featured on an upcoming episode of “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives,” airing Friday, Aug. 7 at 9 p.m. EST.
“It’s hard to put into words what this moment means to us. What started as a dream, a whole lot of hard work, and a belief in doing things the right way has led us to something we never imagined,” wrote Boozy Pig on a social media post. “Being featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives is an incredible honor, and we couldn’t have done it without this amazing crew & community.”
To celebrate the occasion, the restaurant will host a watch party at Riveters, located at 2301 N Dale Mabry Hwy., beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Owner Andrew Tambuzzo opened the establishment, located at 3255 W Cypress St., back in 2019 with a focus on customizable cuts alongside meaty sandwiches, bacons, and sausages on demand.
Boozy is now the third Tampa establishment to get the Guy Fieri treatment over the last couple of months. Last May, downtown Tampa’s Supernatural Food & Wine hosted the frosted-tipped chef, where he announced that he had “one of the best donuts I’ve ever had in my life.” A month later, Fieri also made an appearance at popular Tampa sandwich spot Cousin Vinny’s.
Over the years, Fieri has been a somewhat regular fixture of the Tampa food scene, stopping at a number of local favorites like Ted Peters Famous Smoked Fish and Keegans Seafood Grill.
