TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – We’ve gotten used to high school athletes moving high schools this time of year, so it’s not that shocking to see some roster shake-ups. Perhaps one of the biggest moves this year? Four star wide receiver Bubba Brown is leaving Lowndes, where he led the Vikings in receptions last year, and coming home. Brown will wear the garnet and gold of the Florida High Seminoles this fall.
The move is not too shocking, as Brown played middle school football and his ninth grade year at Florida High before transferring to Lowndes.
He’s not the only player coming home either, as running back Ashton Callahan, also back at The Shack. The Seminoles also picked up AJ Johnson, a two way player from Rickards.
All that, on top of the talent they have returning on both sides of the ball. Quarterback Jayme Miller is hurt, and two guys are working to fill that role, but head coach Jarrod Hickman is confident in Miller’s eventual return. Now he said, it’s about putting it all together.
“We have a lot of weapons and a lot of kids that I think are unselfish that I think are unselfish and ready to help this team win,” he said. “The quarterbacks have got to do a good job of distributing the football to these talented guys. We’re going to figure out where they’re comfortable at, lean on some of these groups that have some veteran spots in the backfield, and try to make it simple for them. I think if they do a good job, then I think our chances will be pretty good. This group has been really, really good, but you have to put it together on a Friday night.”
Florida High opens the regular season at home against Navarre on August 21st.
