LEBANON, Tenn. (WSMV) – A man wanted by the FBI was arrested in Lebanon after the Lebanon Police Department was alerted by the SafeNet license plate reader system.
The man was wanted by the FBI in Jacksonville on an arson charge that had been flagged as terroristic activity.
“Because our LPR system does not track a vehicle’s every movement, A-Shift officers canvassed a large area before locating the stolen vehicle traveling northbound on Highway 109,” LPD said.
LPD officers conducted a traffic stop and took the driver into custody. Officers were able to confirm he was the subject of the nationwide extradition warrant.
“We are grateful for our officers’ quick and professional work in locating and apprehending this suspect. We are also thankful for the technology that helps our department keep our community safe,” LPD said.
The Mt. Juliet Police Department later responded to LPD’s Facebook post and said the vehicle briefly went into their city on Tuesday morning. However, MJPD said they could not find it before it left the city.
“We’re grateful this individual, wanted for a dangerous crime, was apprehended,” MJPD said.
